GARUDA INDONESIA CARRIES OUT AIRLINE PREPAREDNESS PLAN TO ANTICIPATE SPREAD OF A INFLUENZA (H1N1) - SWINE FLU

To prevent the spread of the A Influenza (H1N1) - Swine Flu in Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia has taken several anticipatory measures and consulted with various airport authorities in Indonesia and in countries served by Garuda Indonesia for the handling of passengers suspected of having been infected by the virus.
Garuda Indonesia also initiates all its air crew and ground staff to be on the alert for passengers with signs of the virus' symptoms during check-in and boarding, and to carry out the necessary procedures.
Preventive action was also taken on board. Garuda Indonesia's fleet is equipped with a 'High Efficiency Particulate' air filter known as 'TRUE HEPA'. This technology, one of the finest today, is capable of filtering up to 0,001 micron particles and producing 99,99 percent particle-free air quality inside the aircraft. In addition, the airline also disinfects the cabin interior of all its aircraft that fly to and from high risk regions. Garuda Indonesia also provides set of Mask and Hand Rubber Glove in-flight for all regional and international sectors.
In addition to reviewing passengers health clearance mechanism and procedures as well as implementing the Airlines Preparedness Plan as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Garuda Indonesia also continuously monitors the virus' progress; the spread of infected regions as well as alerts and danger levels.
